The Greatest Game You've Never Heard Of

Posted by Stew Carson     3/24/14

On February 7, 1976 in a game between Toronto and Boston at Maple Leaf Gardens,  Darryl Sittler set an NHL record that still stands by tallying 6 goals and adding 4 assists for 10 points. All his points were scored against rookie goalie Dave Reece in an 11-4 Maple Leaf victory.

Check out this stop-animation feature, which Sittler himself narrates, that describes how he tallied each point that record-setting night.

Oh yeah, Sittler's pre-game meal that night?  A bucket of The Colonel's finest chicken.  For real

Enjoy the show.

A Clean Sheet

Posted by Stew Carson 12/27/13

Hockey has been referred to as the 'brutal ballet', a game that combines speed and grace with the tough physicality reserved for, well....no other sport, really.  This old Bauer hockey commercial (circa 2000-and-something?) does justice in characterizing the two worlds that collide to form the greatest game on earth. It appeals to the primal, bare-bones love of the game.

Watch, enjoy, and I dare you not to be stirred by it.
